PET – CT Attenuation correction

• Emission imaging requires correction for attenuation of photons by patient’s body

• This can be performed with CT attenuation data

  • ~70 kV effective CT data, compared to 511kV PET data
  • Can be issues when contrast media is used, and with streak artefacts in CT images
