Fixed and adaptive array matrices
Array types
- Fixed matrix: all matrix elements same size (GE)
- Adaptive matrix: elements wider away from centre (Philips / Siemens)
- Mixed approach: all matrix elements same size, with exception of a number of thinner ones at centre (Toshiba)
Array design affects:
- Minimum slice width available
- Number of slices at minimum width
- Range of slices available
- Maximum length imaged in one rotation
- Geometric efficiency
- Potential ability to upgrade to more slices per rotation
