• Need to know average dose to each organ &

• organ sensitivity :

• 1 Calculate equivalent organ doses (HT)

• HT = Absorbed organ dose x Quality Factor

• 2  Apply organ sensitivity weighting factors (WT) to doses

• WT from ICRP 60  WT x HT

• 3  Effective Dose = sum of all organ doses x weighting factors
