Optimising pitch to reduce artefacts
Select pitch with best z-axis sampling distribution:
- Pitch 4 results in poor z-axis sampling density (direct data from one helix exactly overlaps complimentary data from another)
- Pitches 3 & 6 result in uniform z-axis sampling density (though pitch 3 duplicates one third of data)
- Non-integer pitch values e.g. 3.5, 4.5, result in maximum z-axis sampling density
