modern scanners have good maintenance programs
- some have modem links to engineering support
- and can fix themselves before the users know
- so why do quality control ?
purpose is to maintain objective standard
- for image quality and dose, safety
results can be used to dictate a level of action
- eg. further tests needed, call engineer, stop scanning
