:: nhsnet web site : known issues

If you are on a browser that is connected to the NHS network you should be able to see the NHS logo between the following brackets:
(no access)

this confirms you have access to the ImPACT NHSNet site at nww.impactscan.nhs.uk

If you see the words "no access" instead you do not have access to the Impact NHSnet site

We have received reports that not all sites that should be able to, can actually access the site.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

It may be that the problem is one of those listed below in which case there may be issues outside of our control or there may be something that you can chase at your end to re-establish connection

Current commitments and tasking means that we can not address such issues.

Please note that the same information is available within our comparison reports

Should you be one of the unfortunate few, please contact us
it would help if you could supply any detail of the error messages you may receive within your browser

- withdrawl of site maintenance

added Nov 06

Due to the current changes in the management of ImPACT, we are currently unable to maintain either the NWW or WWW sites regularly.

-N3 routing

added October 2006
updated December 2006

THere are reports that sites that have migrated to N3 recently are still unable to connect to the NWW site. If this is your case, please check that your site routing tables are directing '10' address traffic out to N3. Some sites are still routing '10' addresses internally.

However, it is possible that your host network is unable to either resolve or route to the site - very possibly because the routing to the IP address is incorrect and any address resolution and routing information that you or your IT team may be able to supply

You may need to confirm that your site can route through N3 as far as our home trust . This may identify that there are issues with your site traffic through our firewalls.

If you think that this may be the case, please ask your IT dept to contact us with:

It would also be useful to know if you can access our local intranet site ?

- connectivity & re-addressing

added March 2006

During the early part of 2006, there have been a number of local network modification that affect the NHSnet site; this is due to address re-mapping that is being carried out our host network

As of 25th March 2006, most of these changes have taken place and the new information cascaded around the network

Currently most NHS sites should be able to see the NWW site - and the logo, as above

periodic maintenance

added March 2006

In order to carry out routine machine and power testing, we tend to take the site off-line for the weekend before the first working Monday of the month; from 17:30 Friday to 09:00 Monday, local London time.

to make that a bit easier, the next scheduled downtime will be:
5th to 8th January 2007

::about the nww site

The NHSnet is available exclusively to the NHS
this enables us to offer additional content to that seen on the internet.

access to the site is restricted to those remote browsers that are recognised as being routed from other NHS hosts ... that is, nhs.uk

We can not currently support connection from outside of this restricted domain -
this includes connections from outside of the UK

:: site details

the site is run on an Apache server from a machine within our trust network

the external address is on the 10.165 net - and is handled by NAT/LAT on our access proxies

We know that some sites are still using '10' addresses internally
this may mean that you are routing internally

If you are within the NHS network, you should have the correct addressing information available from the DNS servers. If you are unsure of the correct address, please contact ImPACT with the address as you resolve it. We will then confirm if this is correct

we are afraid that we can not currently supply the address on request

if you are resolving the correct address, please check that you are routing externally to our server

I am sorry that despite moments of geekiness, we are not infrastructure experts - but we will try to provide useful information or put you in contact with our IT engineers
