:: evaluation reports
The results of ImPACT's scanner evaluations are currently published by the NHS PASA Centre for Evidence-based Purchasing (CEP), as evaluation reports. These allow purchasers to make decisions based on independent and detailed information. A list of reports is given in the table below with links to a summary of each report, which then links to the download page at CEP.
There are a number of types of report:
- Multi-product comparison reports, which compare the scanners currently on the market that we have assessed.
- In depth single product technical evaluation report. These cover the imaging and dosimetric aspects of a scanner.
- User evaluation reports, which cover the ease of use, ergonomics and facilities provided by a scanner.
- Various other reports, such as 'Methods and Methodology', which describes our assessment techniques and rationale.
Problems linking to reports?
We are aware that there have problems with the links from our site to some of the published reports. These should all now be working: if you continue to experiencing difficulties, you are best to go to the CEP web site and select the report from the list
Planned Reports
Please note: due to our current position there are currently no plans to carry out type testing of the 64 slice scanners currently on offer; nor the newest scanners such as 256-slice scanners and dual-source scanners. If you feel evaluation of these scanners is important, please think about requesting a suitable project from CEP; see here for details.
If you are looking for dosimetric information, please also read our note regarding the CT Dosimetry tool, which you can find here.
Current reports
ImPACT reports are FREE to everybody involved in healthcare.
All reports since 2002 are available for download from the CEP website, via links on this page.
Many of the reports published earlier than 2002 are available electronically but only for UK based users of the NHSnet.
Summaries of the evaluation reports up to 2006, from all the medical devices evaluation centres, were published quarterly in the Diagnostic Imaging Review: some editions of which are still available on line.
In addition, Imaging Technology Update contains round up of the new systems, technology developments and innovative products.
Please contact the CEP orders department for further details of these publications and other CEP outputs.
