This supplementary report to the CEP buyers' guide to multislice CT scanners provides comparative specifications of CT scanners that are capable of acquiring 16 slices of data per tube rotation. 16 slice scanners are currently regarded as good general purpose scanners. They are adequate for most applications, with the exception of some specialist studies, such as cardiac and functional imaging, which can benefit from a longer coverage per gantry rotation.
